This is a blog for my past, present, and future personal blog entries, my brain-droppings, from here and my other blogs that are gradually being transferred over, wherever possible with the original time of publishing, and the original commentary of the attached entry, also with the original time of posting, often from several years back. That means I’ll be retro-posting many of these from their original blogs, and I’ll be keeping the older copy online on the blog it came from for five calendar-days before removal for the curious, for transparency’s sake.
Troythulu is my eldritch and pseudonymous handle, my real names being either Troy Loy or Troy Thompson, take your pick, and I’m frequently given to Annoying Alliterations about Almost Anything interesting.
This blog and others I own are intended as experiments, as an experience, and as an opportunity for the author to engage in gratuitous opinionating, occasional arrogant and condescending diatribes, and random flashes of creativity.
My handle was originally coined by S.A. Barton in a gaming and comic shop conversation about an interest in things Lovecraftian many years ago, and has stuck ever since, horrifically infecting an unfortunate internet, and gaining a fair degree of notoriety even though I’m a relative no-name in the skeptical bloggosphere.
Though blessed, or perhaps cursed, with a habit for snark when irritated into a seething but fun rant, I prefer to inform and persuade by ethical and non-coercive means, and leave others to keep to their own cozy personal beliefs, or not, as they see fit.
Whatever works, I say.
I’ll treat all commentators with the same level of respect that they show in their own posts — trollery and troublemaking will get you in comment moderation or banned — defecating on this blog’s online rug will not be permitted, as I have cats for that, thank you.
Ads, Giveaways, Reviews, and Product Promotions:
I do periodic reviews or promotions, and sometimes giveaways, but I will only review, promote, or host giveaways on those things I’m interested in myself, and reviews may not necessarily be favorable, but I’ll be as civil, forthright, and charitable as possible — No snark, no bull, no nonsense.
I have done product promotion on at least one of my blogs, and I’ll make it perfectly clear if and when I stand to gain from any ad, promotion, giveaway, or review on any of my sites. Transparency and honesty are of the utmost importance here, so you WILL be informed and in no uncertain terms.
While you are free to criticize others in the comment threads of this and other of my sites, keep the language acceptable and the content legal and civil. Links to objectionable websites are unacceptable except in the proper context of a discussion thread, and may be redacted.
Comments linking to sites of an illegal nature or containing threats of physical harm or verbal abuse of others will be deleted and the commentator permanently banned from posting on this site.
While I strive for presenting material on this site in as truthful a manner as possible, it is impossible for me to guarantee the complete factual accuracy of the material and at least some of it may be in error. If this is the case, and you can point out to me the error, and a credible source, agreed on by both of us, that shows it, I shall happily correct the inaccuracy and give you credit for pointing it out to me in an entry mentioning you.
I have a low tolerance for trollery and asshattery. I reserve the right to use any comment posted on this site in a manner that may be comedic, illustrative, exemplary of some variety of silliness, informative, or otherwise enlightening or entertaining to other readers on this site.
You have been warned.
Note on Guest Posts, Reblogs & Interviews:
I also host guest posts on my blogs, as long as they pertain to the site’s overall topic matter. This includes science fiction, fantasy fiction, science, scientific skepticism, fractals and fractal art, logic and argumentation, scientific literacy, books, logical literacy, pseudoscience and the paranormal, and philosophy.
As site owner, I hold the right to edit in an appropriate and forthright manner any guest post or interview submitted to this site or to decline to publish it for any reason.
